Several mailboxes for one person

One person can have several mailboxes, such as amy@acme.test and amy@acme-shop.test, and open all of them with their one Zappocity sign-in (zappo.city). In webmail they switch between them from the mailbox picker at the top, without signing in again.

Each mailbox stays a mailbox of its own: its own folders, filters, limits, aliases and app passwords, and its own seat in the plan.

To send from more addresses into one inbox instead, give the mailbox aliases (see Sending from your aliases). In webmail, Settings → Extra mailboxes makes another inbox and Settings → Aliases another address; an alias can deliver to any of your mailboxes in the tenant, chosen when you add it and changeable later. For an address several people read, such as sales@, use a shared mailbox.

Switching in webmail

The picker next to your address lists:

Switching needs a sign-in through zappo.city. A session opened with a mailbox password, or one staff or a tenant admin opened as you, switches to nothing: a mailbox's password proves only that mailbox.

Signing out (in webmail or at zappo.city) signs you out of whichever mailbox is open, as always. Each switch is recorded in the mailbox's sign-in history as webmail-switch.

Mail apps still sign in to each mailbox on its own, with an app password made in that mailbox's webmail settings.

Adding a mailbox for yourself

In webmail, Settings → Extra mailboxes: type the part before the @, pick one of your tenant's domains from the list, and choose Add mailbox (or Ask for it when your tenant approves each one). A new mailbox takes a seat in your tenant's plan and appears in the mailbox picker; reload webmail to see it there. While a request waits you can Withdraw it, and you get an email when an owner or admin decides.

Your tenant decides how many extra mailboxes you may have (requests waiting count too) and whether each needs approval. It needs a sign-in through zappo.city.

For tenant managers: limits and approvals

On the command line: corpsuite tenant team set acme ownMailboxLimit:=3 ownMailboxApproval:=false, corpsuite mailbox own-mailboxes set amy@acme.test limit:=0 approval:=null, corpsuite tenant mailbox-requests acme, corpsuite tenant mailbox-request approve acme REQUEST-ID.

Making a mailbox for someone who already has one

When you add a mailbox (Mailboxes → Add mailbox), type the part before the @ and pick the domain from the list, then under Who it belongs to pick the person (shown by a mailbox they already have). It opens with their Zappocity sign-in, so there is no password to set. You can add aliases for it in the same form.

For a mailbox that already exists, give it to the person afterwards: on its row, choose Give to… and type the address of a mailbox the person already has in this tenant.

Owners and admins of the tenant can do this in the tenant manager; staff in the admin panel. Custom tenant roles can't. On the command line:

sudo corpsuite mailbox give shop@acme.test owner=amy@acme.test
sudo corpsuite mailbox add acme address=shop@acme.test owner=amy@acme.test # make it for her

When you give a mailbox:

To take it away again, staff use Unlink on the mailbox's Zappocity account card (or corpsuite mailbox zappocity unlink); within a minute it gets a Zappocity account of its own address again.

Questions

Does a second mailbox cost a seat? Yes, every mailbox takes one, whoever owns it.

Can the mailboxes be in different tenants? Yes. Someone with mailboxes in two tenants (signed in to both with the same zappo.city email) sees both in the picker. Give to… only works within one tenant.

Do I need usernames? No. Your Zappocity account is the one sign-in for every mailbox, whatever their addresses.
